Cross the border into Laos and visit the beautiful and picturesque Kuang Si Waterfalls close to Luang Prabang. In Vietnam relax on a cruise aboard a traditional junk
on Halong Bay and zigzag your way through the colourful markets of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Enjoy the atmospheric and delightful town of Hoi An. Explore the Mekong Delta by boat to see the local life in this area.

2018 – 19

Day 1 Fly to Phnom Penh
You will take a scheduled flight from London Heathrow to Phnom Penh. Alternatively, we can arrange departures from your local airport.

Day 2 Arrive Phnom Penh
Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, you will be met by our local tour guide and transferred to the hotel. Rest of the day is at your
leisure.

Day 3 Phnom Penh day tour and to Siem Reap (BL)
Start at the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda where 5,000
silver tiles cover the floor. Continue to the National Museum built in traditional Khmer style. In the afternoon tour Tuol Sleng Prison and the Killing Fields – a reminder of the Khmer Rouge regime and gives an insight into how the country has developed. Transfer to the airport and take an evening flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, be met and transferred to the hotel.

Day 4 Angkor Wat (BL)
In the morning visit to the ancient city of
Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire. Enter the impressive South Gate flanked by stone elephants and giants. In the afternoon visit the famous Temple of Angkor Wat, the largest and best-preserved temple at the site. Enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Day 5 Tonle Sap Lake (BL)
A morning transfer to the pier and take a boat trip to Tonle Sap Lake, South East Asia’s largest freshwater lake, see the villages on stilts. See the monuments representing the Rolous Group. Visit the workshops of
Artisan’s d’Angkor where traditional wood and stone carving techniques are taught.

Day 6 Ta Prohm and to Luang Prabang (BL)
Today head to the exquisite Banteay Srey Temple, one of the finest displays of classical Khmer art. Stop at Pre Rup, a stunning temple-mountain with excellent views of the countryside. Also visit Ta Prohm Temple, famed for the combination of trees growing out of the ruins. Transfer to airport. Fly to Luang Prabang.

Day 7 Luang Prabang city tour (BL)
In the morning visit the city’s oldest temple, Wat Sene and the impressive Wat Xiengthong. Take a cruise up the Mekong to the Pak Ou Caves, past spectacular views. Explore the caves crammed with thousands of golden Buddha statues. Visit Ban Xangkhong village, famed for its silk hand weaving and traditional Saa paper making. Also, see the magnificent stupa of Wat Visoun. Climb to the top of Mount Phousi for panoramic views of the city, the surrounding countryside and the Mekong Delta at sunset.

Day 8 Khuang Si Falls (BL)
Visit local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay, Hmong Village and Ban Thapene, Khmu Village, then drive to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the turquoise pools or walk along the forest trails. We return to the city by late afternoon to observe the sunset at Wat Prabath.

Day 9 To Hanoi (BL)
An early start to see the morning ritual of monks collecting offerings of Alms (sticky rice) from residents. After breakfast, free day. Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon, pick up by your tour guide and driver at the hotel, transfer to the airport for the flight to Hanoi. Upon arrival, be met by a guide and transfer to the hotel.

Day 10 Hanoi city tour (BL)
Experience the rich culture of Hanoi. Spend time at the Temple of Literature, One Pillar
Pagoda and the Presidential Palace. Visit the Vietnam History Museum and the Hanoi Opera House. Take a stroll around the Old Quarter and end the day by watching a performance of a traditional Water Puppet Show.

Day 11 Halong Bay – night on board (BLD)
A morning pick-up by shuttle bus, take a journey through the rich farmlands and rice fields. Arrive in Halong City and board the traditional wooden junk boat for the overnight journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay cruising past beautiful rock formations. Visit the Surprise Cave and enjoy swimming or hiking on Titov Island. Optional onboard activities include cookery class, massage, kayaking or swimming.

Day 12 To Hue (B Brunch)
Start your day with Tai Chi on the sundeck, followed by breakfast. Visit the Dark and Bright Caves. Enjoy brunch as the boat winds through the limestone rocks. Disembark and take the shuttle bus back to Hanoi. Upon arrival in Hanoi, enjoy free time at your leisure. Late afternoon transfer to airport. Fly to Hue, be met by your local tour guide and transferred to your hotel.

Day 13 Hue City tour (BL)
Cruise along the Perfume River, stop off at the Thien Mu Pagoda. Continue to the Mausoleum of Minh Mang which was built in the 1840’s. Lunch is a special vegetarian meal with the nuns of Dong Thuyen Pagoda. In the afternoon, visit the Imperial Citadel and the Forbidden City. End the day with some retail therapy at Dong Ba Market.

Day 14 Lang Co Beach and to Hoi An (BL)
Today visit the Mausoleum of Tu Duc and the Tomb of Emperor Khai Dinh. Drive to Danang, stop off for refreshments at Lang Co Beach – an attractive island-like stretch of palm-shaded white sand and inviting waters.

Day 15 Hoi An (B)
Day at leisure to enjoy the ancient town of Hoi An. Optional tours include a cooking class or cycle ride to the local beach.

Day 16 Fly Ho Chi Minh City (BL)
Morning at leisure. Transfer to restaurant for lunch, then to Danang airport. Stop en route to visit Marble Mountain and the Cham Museum. Fly to Ho Chi Minh City, met at Tan Son Nhat airport by your tour guide and transfer to your hotel to check in.

Day 17 Ho Chi Minh City tour and Cu Chi (BL)
Today, experience the best of Ho Chi Minh City on a half-day city tour. Soak up the history of Dong Khoi Street on a walking tour, visit the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum, and the city’s biggest wholesale market in Chinatown. This afternoon, discover the Cu Chi Tunnels on the city’s outskirts.

Day 18 Mekong Delta (BL)
A morning transfer through the beautiful countryside of My Tho and Ben Tre province. On arrival at Hung Vuong Pier, board a boat to sail along the Ben Tre River – one of the tributaries of the Mekong – through scenic mangroves leading into the heart of the Mekong Delta. Stop at a traditional brick works to see how bricks are made by hand.Continue to My Long Village to see rice paper making and to enjoy some rice cake. Continuing along the canals, visit a coconut workshop and stop at a bee garden. Enjoy some local fruits with a cup of honey tea and listen to some local music. Enjoy lunch at a riverside restaurant, and visit an interesting market. Return to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 19 Fly back to London (B)
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
