Day 1 Arrive Luang Prabang
Upon arrival at Luang Prabang airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Reaminder of the day at leisure.
Day 2 Luang Prabang City Tour (BL)
Visit the Traditional Art and Ethnology Centre to learn about Laos’ many ethnic cultures. See the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, a fine example of classical Laotian architecture. Continue to the Royal Palace Museum, and Big Brother Mouse, which is the most famous bookshop in Laos. Ascend the 328 steps to the top of Phousi Hill for a beautiful sunset view of the city. End the day with a visit to the famous Night Market.
Day 3 Pak Ou Caves (BL)
An early start to see the morning ritual of monks collecting offerings of Alms (sticky rice) from residents. Take a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, stopping at Xiengmene Village. Continue to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Return to Luang Prabang, visiting the villages of Ban Xanghai, Ban Xangkhong and Ban Xienglek.
Day 4 Khuang Si waterfall (BL)
Visit Khuang Si Waterfalls where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails. On the way back to Luang Prabang, stop at the Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park and the local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Na Ouane and and Ban Thapene.
Day 5 Luang Prabang to Xiengkhouang (BL)
Travel over the mountains to Xieng Khuang, the province which is best-known for having been heavily bombed during the Indochina War. It is also famous for the mysterious Plain of Jars. The journey takes about 8 hours and we can make some stops at villages to observe the rural life of local people, including ethnic minorities such as the Hmong people.
Day 6 Plain of Jars (BL)
Journey through Phonsavan to the Plain of Jars. The Plain of Jars is a huge archaeological complex littered with 2,000 years old stone jars sized from 70cm up to 3 or 4 meters. Their true origin remains a mystery. Your trip will enable you to visit the 3 sites and also discover some local villages where you can observe local life. In the afternoon, enjoy a trip to Muang Khoun, home to a unique sitting giant Buddha.
Day 7 Xiengkhouang to Vang Vieng (BL)
Explore some nearby villages, populated by the Hmong hill tribe and Tai Dam people, they possess a vibrant local culture and an interesting history. Take a scenic drive to Vang Vieng, a small town, which is nestled on a bend of the Nam Song River. Its stunning scenery with its limestone outcrops remains unspoiled.
Day 8 Vang Vieng to Vientiane (BL)
Stroll around the town to visit the local market then visit Organic Farm Vangvieng (OFVV), promoting the use of natural materials and traditional methods. After visiting Tham Jang Cave, drive to Vientiane, stopping en-route at Vang Xang, a famous archaeological site dating back to the 11th century.
Day 9 Vientiane City Tour (BL)
Visit the serene Wat Sisaket, Wat Phra Keo and the Presidential Palace (outside only). Continue to the Patuxay monument, Laos’ version of the Arc de Triomphe and That Luang, the holiest site in Laos with a towering golden spire.
Day 10 Depart Vientiane (B)
Trasfer to the airport for your departure flight.
