Day 1 UK to Hanoi
Fly from the UK to Hanoi from London. We can also arrange flights from regional airports on request.
Day 2 Arrive Hanoi
Upon arrival in Hanoi you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 3 Hanoi at Leisure (B)
Enjoy a day at leisure in Hanoi for independent exploration of this marvellous city. Perhaps visit the Temple of Literature, dedicated to Confucius, and the curious One Pillar Pagoda and Presidential Palace. The Vietnam History Museum and the ornate Hanoi Opera House are also well worth visiting. Why not end the day with a performance of a traditional water Puppet Show.
Day 4 Hanoi to Halong Bay (BLD)
Morning departure by shuttle bus to Halong Bay, travelling through rich farmlands passing workers in the rice fields. Board your cruise vessel, a traditional wooden sailing junk to embark upon your overnight journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay. Be entranced by the beauty of a sunset in Halong Bay, and maybe try your hand at kayaking, or simply relax on board. You could attend a cooking demonstration before a delicious dinner aboard.
Day 5 Halong Bay to Hanoi (B Brunch)
Join an early morning Tai Chi class on the sundeck, before a light breakfast. Visit one of the local caves and return for a freshly prepared brunch on board before disembarking and returning to Hanoi. Transfer to the station to take the night train to Hue.
Day 6 Hue – Free Day
Upon your morning arrival at the station, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day at leisure to explore the city. Why not discover a local market, visit the Citadel, or cruise along the Perfume River.
Day 7 Hue to Hoi An
Transfer to Hoi An, passing the scenic Lang Co Lagoon and Hai Van Pass, for breathtaking views from the top. The remainder of the day at leisure to possibly enjoy a leisurely stroll around delightful and charming town.
Day 8 Hoi An Free Day (B)
Take your time in Hoi An to discover all this characterful town has to offer. The best way is on foot, so wander through the narrow, beautifully preserved streets, making sure to see the famous Japanese Covered Bridge, and the Phung Hung House, which was home to an old merchant family for over two centuries.
Day 9 Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh City (B)
After a few hours for last minute sightseeing in Hoi An, transfer to Danang Station for your overnight train to Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 10 Ho Chi Minh City (B)
Arrive into Ho Chi Minh City and enjoy breakfast. The remainder of the day at leisure for independent exploration of this vibrant and bustling city. Perhaps visit the fascinating Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum. You may also wish to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels on the city’s outskirts, where former Viet Cong guerrillas guide visitors through a section of the labyrinthine tunnels.
Day 11 Ho Chi Minh City (B)
Following breakfast at the hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure for independent exploration. You may wish to join a tour to the Mekong Delta, and explore the picturesque canals and waterways by boat.
Day 12 Fly to UK (B)
Enjoy a good breakfast before your transfer to the airport, for your flight back to the UK at the end of the Vietnam Explorer.
